A: Inner Capsule: The inner dome can be left in place if you untoggled the capsule at either side of the shelter (where the groundsheet hooks would be located) and around the door opening. However, the shelter would then have more of a bulky pack-down size and you may struggle to store it inside the carry bag that is supplied with the bivvy.
Extra care would need to be taken while setting up and packing down the bivvy as the inner dome and sewn in groundsheet would add considerable weight to the shelter. You would need to make sure the bivvy arms are fully fanned out before employing the pull-down handle.
Skull Cap: The Skull Cap can be left attached to the shelter. However, you would need to slacken the Velcro straps off and remove the rods at the front of the Skull Cap from the locating ports. Fold the cap back over the bivvy’s pull-down handle to dismantle the shelter.
Social Cap: Remove from the bivvy to transport.
Insect Panel: Remove from the bivvy to transport.
Vapour Shield: The Vapour Shield can be left in place, but the power pack must be disconnected and removed from the bivvy.
A: The hydrophobic coating on the outer fabric is prone to deterioration due to exposure to UV light and a build-up of dust/dirt on the bivvy. We recommend that the fabric is cleaned and treated at least once annually with a waterproofing tent care kit such as Grainger’s Fabsil as this will restore the water-resistant coating.
As with all waterproof fabric treatments, it is essential to adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions.
